Who is responsible
The controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Sinan Cekic, Schneidhainerstraße 2, 61350 Bad Homburg, Germany
Email: contact@bike-pump.com
Full contact details are in the Legal notice. No data protection officer has been appointed, as none is required.
Hosting and server logs
This website runs on a server that we rent from STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. When you open a page, your browser sends technical data that our web server records in a log: your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, the HTTP status, the amount of data sent, the referring page and your browser and operating system (user agent).
This is needed to deliver the pages, keep the service stable and detect misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep the logs for 14 days and then delete them, unless a specific incident has to be investigated.
Map tiles from OpenStreetMap
The maps on park, city, state and feature pages and the full map are built from map images (tiles) served by the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF), United Kingdom. To show a map, your browser requests these tiles directly from the OSMF servers. The OSMF and the delivery partners it uses receive your IP address, the requested map area, the time, the referring page and your user agent. We cannot see or influence this data.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in showing where each park is on a map (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Transfers to the United Kingdom are based on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the United Kingdom (Art. 45 GDPR). How the OSMF handles this data is described in its privacy policy. The home page and the dog park guide load no tiles; they show a drawing of park locations instead.
Your location
The "Dog parks near me" and locate buttons ask your browser for your location. Your browser asks for your permission first. If you allow it, the position stays in your browser and is used only to move the map to your area. It is not sent to us and not stored. The map then loads the tiles for your area from the OSMF, so the OSMF can see which area was requested, as described above.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give in the browser prompt. You can withdraw it at any time in your browser's site settings.
Links to other websites
Park pages link to the sources of each listing (OpenStreetMap and city or county open data portals) and, under "Directions", to Google Maps. Nothing is loaded from these services until you click a link. After you click, the privacy policy of that website applies, for Google Maps the Google Privacy Policy. The park's coordinates are part of the Google Maps link. No other data from this site is passed on.
Advertising with Google AdSense
The site uses Google AdSense to show advertisements. Google's advertising technology sets cookies and uses identifiers, including a cookie that recognises your browser across websites that use Google advertising. With them, Google can show personalized ads based on your visits to this and other sites, and can limit how often you see an ad. Google also uses the page you are viewing to choose ads that fit its content.
In the EU, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent message asks you before advertising cookies are set and before personalized ads are shown. Without your consent you see non-personalized ads, which are not based on a personal profile. Outside these countries, personalized ads are shown unless you opt out.
To opt out of personalized advertising, use Google's ad settings at adssettings.google.com or the opt-out page of the Digital Advertising Alliance at optout.aboutads.info. Google explains how its ads work at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Google acts as an independent controller for its advertising and processes the data under its Google Privacy Policy. Google may process the data in the USA, based on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR) and standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). In the EU, the UK and Switzerland, the legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and § 25(1) TDDDG.
Contact form and email
If you use the contact form, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and your message. We use them only to answer you and to fix listings you tell us about.
The form data travels encrypted to our server, which does not store it. The server forwards it to a private channel on the chat service Discord that only we can read. For users in Europe, Discord is provided by Discord Netherlands B.V., Schiphol Boulevard 195, 1118 BG Schiphol, Netherlands. Discord may process the data in the USA through Discord Inc., 444 De Haro Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, which is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR). See Discord's privacy policy. Discord does not receive your IP address or any other data from your browser; only the content of the form is passed on.
To block spam, our server checks submissions itself; no third-party captcha is used. For this it counts submissions per IP address in its working memory for 1 hour and then forgets them. The IP address is not saved or passed on.
If you email us directly, your address and message are processed in the same way and for the same purpose.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering inquiries and keeping the listings accurate (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or, where your message concerns a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. We delete your message and contact details once the matter is settled, at the latest after 6 months, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.
Your rights under the GDPR
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
- have incorrect data corrected (Art. 16),
- have data erased (Art. 17) or its processing restricted (Art. 18),
- receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20),
- withdraw a consent at any time, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)),
- lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state where you live, work or where the alleged infringement took place (Art. 77). The authority responsible for us is the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (HBDI).
Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): where we process data based on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)), you can object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We then stop, unless we can show compelling legitimate grounds or the processing is needed for legal claims.
To use these rights, write to the email address above. We usually cannot link server log entries to a person, so please say what your request is about.
Providing data is neither legally nor contractually required. Without the technical data in the server logs, the pages cannot be delivered. There is no automated decision-making or profiling.

Latest change, effective October 19, 2026: Google Analytics 4 and Google AdSense were added. In the EU, the UK and Switzerland, both run only after you choose in Google's consent message. Elsewhere, Google Analytics runs by default, with the opt-outs described above. Before that, the site used no analytics, no advertising cookies and no local storage.
